I’m sure you’ve realized by now that my entire house is on what turned into a paleo-friendly diet. It started as gluten-free/dairy-free and grew from there. I’m not saying it’s a magic cure-all for the reason we eat this way, but I can say I see a marked difference in not only behavior, but also in digestive problems, skin problems, and general icky-ness when we have a “cheat” day. That said, we are *not* dealing with life threatening allergies and I don’t want anyone to think I’m implying that we are. I have friends/acquaintances with children with that type of allergy and it’s scary. But our diets and avoidances sync up more often than not.
So weird disclaimer aside, I went looking for a way to send a good, pre-made, not crap care package to M when he was at camp last week. I found about six places that had “healthy” care packages, but the gluten-free packages had crap in them, and the non-GF packages were, well, not GF and also crap. Then I found Eating Edible.
Their packages are all dairy/wheat/gluten/egg free. While I would hesitate to call them healthy, to be fair, it’s cookies & candies and other fun things that shouldn’t be healthy anyway. I mean, if you want a *healthy* care package, send a fruit basket. They are healthier than sending chips ahoy and jolly ranchers. I think so anyway. I sent this package:
**Trick or Treater
Skip the night of trick or treating and enjoy our bounty collected for you! It’s full of everyone’s favorites including Enjoy Life Cookies, YumEarth Organics Lollipops, YumEarth Organics Gummy Bears, Motts Assorted Fruit Medleys and Enjoy Life Chewy Bars to name just a few.
M loved it. He brought home some of it, mostly the items he didn’t like, but he sure appreciated receiving an entire package of goodies that he could eat without worrying about what the ingredients were!
I had some questions before I bought (like shipping time, arrival time, a bunch of nit-picky type things really) and Catherine was patient and prompt in her responses. She reassured me and even gave me a projected shipping time before I bought. After the purchase went through I received a delivery confirmation number so I could track the package. All in all, very thorough and professional. If it comes up again, I’d totally send a package through this company.
